CHANEL Editoral Shoot
This editorial project was created for FAS 104: Fundamentals of Fashion Design and tasked us with producing an editorial shoot using vintage Chanel pieces. Inspired by a Karl Lagerfeld quote, our group developed The Living Doll, exploring control and idealized femininity through styling, set design, and post-production.
This editorial project was created for FAS 104: Fundamentals of Fashion Design, a course focused on foundational principles of fashion design, concept development, and visual storytelling. The assignment required developing and executing an editorial shoot using a curated selection of vintage Chanel pieces, guiding the project from initial concept through final execution.
Inspired by a Karl Lagerfeld quote describing the woman as “the most perfect doll,” the project introduced The Living Doll as a conceptual framework to explore themes of control, precision, and idealized femininity within Chanel’s visual language. Every element of the shoot was intentionally considered, from the selection of a structured tweed jacket and classic accessories to styling choices that emphasized exaggerated, doll-like details.
Through experimentation with set design, posing, and post-production, the final imagery was refined into a clean, editorial composition that balances luxury with surrealism. The project highlights both the craftsmanship of the Chanel pieces and the symbolic tension between elegance, perfection, and constructed femininity.
